In mid-year 2022, the number of the elderly aged 60 and above 297,069 persons (4.7%) in Palestine representing about 5.5% of the total population, at 196,251 person constitute about 6.2% of the total population in the West Bank, and 100,818 person constitute 4.7% of the total population in Gaza Strip.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) slightly increased at constant prices by 1% in Palestine during the 2nd quarter 2022 compared to 1st quarter 2022
An incessant deficit in the Current Account (goods, services, income, current transfers) which totaled USD 775 million. Mainly triggered by the deficit of the Trade Balance of Goods, which reached USD 1,936 million, as well as the deficit in Services Balance, which amounted to USD 380 million.
The overall Producer Price Index (PPI) for Palestine with its base year (2019 = 100) reached 105.11 in August 2022, as it increased by 1.68% compared to July 2022.
The number of hotel guests during the first half of 2022 doubled twice compared to the same period of the previous year, as the number of hotel guests in the West Bank reached 145 thousand, who stayed 362 thousand nights.
The primary results of the IIP (external assets – foreign liabilities) for Palestine at the end of the second quarter 2022 revealed that the net IIP amounted to USD 3,073 million, decreased by 18% compared with the previous quarter, which means that the Palestinian economy’s investments outside Palestine outweigh investments in Palestine from abroad.
The Construction Cost Index (CCI) for residential buildings in the West Bank* reached 119.51 with a slight increase of 0.09% during August 2022 compared with July 2022 (base year 2013=100).
Exports decreased in July, 2022 by 7% compared to June, 2022, Imports increased in July, 2022 by 5% compared to June, 2022.
The overall Consumer Price Index CPI for Palestine during August 2022 recorded a decrease by 0.48% compared with July 2022
The illiteracy rates decreased by 84% throughout the last two decades
A total of 2,610 building licenses were issued in the second quarter of 2022, of which 1,558 are new buildings.
The overall IPI in Palestine reached 105.04 during July 2022 which indicates a sharp decrease of 11.41% compared to June 2022
