Press Release The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics is pleased to disseminate the main findings of the Hotel Survey for 2000. Similarly to the previous times we have published data, this release aims at giving the public an overall idea of the most important indicators in Hotel Survey, mainly the Number of Guests, Average number of workers, Percentage occupancy of rooms, and other main indicators. As figures indicate, there are 116 hotels in Palestinian territory, 106 of them are in operation, include 4708 bedrooms with 10063 beds. 43 of these hotels are located in Jerusalem include 1996 bedrooms with 4344 beds. Number of the persons engaged in these hotels amount to 2398 employee, also about 335711 guests had visited Palestine and spent 1016683 nights at these hotels. In view of the Israeli closure on the Palestinian territory, it is quite obvious that the total number of guests decline by 75.6% in the 4th quarter of 2000 compared to the 3rd quarter of the same year, and 71.2% compared to the 4th quarter of 1999. The growth percentage of guests declined by 6.4%, and guest nights declined by 13.5%. Main Findings: Guests during 2000 In 2000, the total number of guests to the Palestinian Territory reached 335711. 51.9% of them from the European union. Employment The number of persons employed as in December 2000 reached 2398 employee. 474 as administrators and 1924 as services workers. Occupancy of rooms Percentage occupancy of rooms declined by 69.6% for the 4th quarter 2000 compared to 3rd quarter 2000. Most important indicators of the tourists activities
