The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute Sign a Joint Memorandum of Understanding
 
Ramallah, 16/12/2019 – H.E. Dr. Ola Awad, President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), H.E. Mr. Sergei Zvetetsky President of the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI), signed today, Monday, a joint memorandum of understanding and mutual cooperation in the field of statistics at PCBS headquarters in Ramallah city. The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding was in the presence of Mr. Gyorgyi Melinov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to the state of Palestine, and Dr. Amal Jado, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Awad expressed her sincere appreciation and deep gratitude to the Bulgarian people, its president and government in general, and the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI) in particular for this kind and active gesture that reflects the robust fraternal and friendly relations that Palestine and Bulgaria have. Additionally, Dr. Awad emphasized that PCBS is very much keen and committed to continue strengthening and developing its relations with Bulgaria in the field of statistics through implementing the said memorandum of understanding.

Moreover, Mr. Melinov expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PCBS on its persistent efforts and distinctive work. He, also, stressed on the deep brotherly relations between both the Palestinian and Bulgarian leaderships and peoples. Accordingly, he confirmed the continuous support for the Palestinian people and leadership until they establish their independent state on their national soil according to the well – known international referents.    

Mr. Zvetetsky, in return, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PCBS on its commendable efforts and distinctive performance. Mr. Zvetetsky also emphasized on the deep relations and cooperation between the two institutes as well as their keenness to develop those relations in matter that would serve the national Palestinian statistical system.

Also, Dr. Amal Jado, expressed, from her side, her appreciation and gratitude to Bulgaria; its government and people, on their continuous support for Palestine in several areas and at different levels, as well as their interest and concern in supporting PCBS, which is sole and mean source for the important strategic planning on the political, cultural social and economic levels. Dr. Jado expressed her hopes to continuing this cooperation in a way that would contribute in supporting the Palestinian people and establishing the institutions of the State of Palestine.

Subsequently, during the signing ceremony, several presentations were carried out regarding the history and beginnings of PCBS, the most significant achievements, Sustainable Development Agendas and the efforts that PCBS put in this field, in addition to the ways to advance and develop capacities at PCBS. Furthermore, a presentation about the ongoing preparations for the Second Agriculture Census 2020 in Palestine was presented, as well as several topics concerning gender, administrative records and data dissemination at PCBS.
