Press Release on Hotel Activities Survey in the West Bank - First Quarter 2014
150 Thousand Guests Spent 362 Thousand Nights
During the first quarter of 2014, 149,526 guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank, spending 361,711 nights. Of these nights, 38% were by guests from European Union countries, 10% by Palestinians, and 11% from the United States and Canada.
The percentage of hotel guests during the first quarter of 2014 increased by 24% compared with the first quarter of 2013 but were 22% lower than the fourth quarter of 2013.
Hotel Room Occupancy during First Quarter 2014
The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 23% in the first quarter of 2014.
Room occupancy during the first quarter of 2014 decreased by 18% compared with the fourth quarter of 2013 and increased by 5% over the first quarter of 2013.

During the first quarter of 2014, there were 3,035 hotel workers: 2,304 males and 731 females.
Hotel Capacity by Region
In March 2014, 116 of the 120 hotels in the West Bank responded to the survey for the first quarter of 2014. They had available 6,674 rooms with a total of 14,780 beds. These were distributed by region as follows:
· North of West Bank: 15 hotels comprising 289 rooms with 843 beds.
· Middle of West Bank: 35 hotels comprising 1,587 rooms with 3,412 beds.
· Jerusalem: 30 hotels comprising 1,651 rooms with 3,644 beds.
· South of West Bank: 36 hotels comprising 3,147 rooms with 6,881 beds.
