Consumer Price Index (CPI) records an increase of 35% in Gaza Strip during the three months of Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip compared to the corresponding months of the previous year.
Sharp accumulated increase in the Palestinian Consumer Price Index (CPI) to record an increase of 10% since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip by 2.57% for the first month of the aggression "October 2023"; by 3.50% during the second month of the aggression "November 2023"; and by 3.49% during the third month of the aggression "December 2023" .
The overall Consumer Price Index CPI for Palestine during December 2023 recorded a sharp increase by 3.49% compared with November 2023 (12.21% in Gaza Strip, by 0.59% in the West Bank, and by 0.12% in Jerusalem J1*).
The changes in Palestinian CPI during December 2023 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during December 2023 increased by 15.23% compared with December 2022 (54.11% in Gaza Strip, 5.34% in the West Bank**, and by 4.10% Jerusalem J1*).

*Data represent those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.
**Data exclude those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.
Due to the Israeli occupation aggression against Gaza Strip since October 7th, 2023, the data for December 2023, were collected through direct phone contact with PCBS fieldworkers working in Gaza Strip focusing on the prices for basic commodities purchased by them and those are of high relative importance within the main major groups of expenditure in the consumer price index.
The prices of goods and services were collected in New Israeli Shekels (NIS). The monthly average exchange rate of the US Dollar during December 2023 is (3.67 NIS/$).
