Rise in Activity Compared with Previous Year

The results of the Existing Buildings Survey indicated that the value of construction of new buildings and additions in Palestine during 2013 was USD 913.1 million.

The cost of current maintenance of existing buildings was USD 245.2 million in 2013: USD 183.8 million in the West Bank and USD 61.4 million in the Gaza Strip.

Capital repairs and improvements to existing buildings totaled USD 407.8 million in 2013: USD 329.8 million in the West Bank and USD 78.0 million in the Gaza Strip.

The results also indicated that the value of construction of new buildings and additions in Palestine increased by 0.5% compared to 2012. The cost of current maintenance of existing buildings decreased by 0.6% compared to 2012, while the cost value of capital additions, repairs and improvements to buildings increased by 3.8% in 2013 compared with 2012.
