Decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) during December, 12/2019
The overall CPI for Palestine during December 2019 decreased by 0.24% compared with November 2019 (by 0.60% in the West Bank**, while it increased by 0.54% in Jerusalem J1*, and with a slight increase by 0.06% in Gaza Strip).
The changes in Palestinian CPI for December 2019 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during December 2019 increased by 1.58% compared with December 2018 (by 1.85% in Jerusalem J1*, and by 1.43% in the West Bank*, and with a slight increase by 0.06% in Gaza Strip).

• The base year of Consumer Price Index has been updated to be 2018.
• Reliance on the new version of the Classification of Individual Consumption according to Purpose COICOP – 2018 issued by the United Nation Statistic Division (UNSD), to classify major groups, commodities' and services consumed.
