Industrial Production Index (IPI) in Palestine During 2020& During, 12/2020
Sharp Decrease in the Industrial Production Index (IPI) in Palestine during 2020
The overall IPI in Palestine with its Base Year (2018 = 100) reached 95.60 in 2020 which indicates a sharp decrease by 7.95% compared to 2019.
IPI for 2020 decreased due to the decrease in the activities of Mining and Quarrying by 23.07%, and the activities of Manufacturing Industry by 10.46%, while the activities of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply increased by 11.61%, and the activities of Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation increased by 5.98%.

Increase in the Industrial Production Index (IPI) in Palestine during December,12/2020
The overall IPI in Palestine reached 106.95 during December 2020 with an increase of 4.49% compared to November 2020 (Base Year 2018 = 100).
IPI for December 2020 increased due to the increase in the activities of Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation by 22.16% which had a share of 2.39% of the total industry, the activities of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply by 9.49% which had a share of 11.95% of the total industry, the activities of Mining and Quarrying by 3.85% which had a share of 2.68% of the total industry, and the activities of Manufacturing Industry by 3.10% which had a share of 82.98% of the total industry.

Note:
Industrial production index monthly data for the year 2020 have been revised in terms of updating deflation method according to the Producer Price Index, that is deflation along with weighting processes are done at more detailed levels of economic activities, as well as, using the modified Laspeyre equation in calculating the industrial index (Moving base instead of the Fixed base), in line with the latest international recommendations in this regards.
