Consumer Price Index (CPI) during March, 03/2025

A Sharp Increase in Gaza Strip in Light of the resuming of Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip and the Closure of Commercial Crossings, and an Increase in the West Bank during the Holy Month of Ramadan

With the resuming of Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip since March 19th, 2025 and the closure of commercial crossings in Gaza Strip and the severe shortage of consumer goods as a result of banning them from accessing Gaza Strip markets during March 2025, led to an increase in the consumer price index in Gaza Strip to record a sharp increase of 40.58% compared to February 2025. Also, the CPI recorded an increase in the West Bank** by 1.06% and an increase by 0.52% in Jerusalem J1* due to the increase in demand for consumer goods during the holy month of Ramadan, which pushed the consumer price index to record an increase in Palestine by 14.05%.

The changes in Palestinian CPI during March 2025 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during March 2025 increased by 1.88% compared with March 2024 (3.21% in Gaza Strip. 1.66% in Jerusalem J1*, and by 0.86% in the West Bank**).

*Data represent those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.

**Data exclude those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.
