Press Release on Hotel Activity Survey 2012
More Than 0.5 Million Guests Spent 1.3 Million Nights
During 2012, half a million guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank: 36% were from European Union countries, 15% were Palestinian and 7% were from the United States and Canada.
The number of hotel guests grew in the period between 2001 to 2010, but there was a decrease in their number in 2011 by 12% in comparison to 2010, while it witnessed again same number of 2010 in 2012.
The total number of guest nights in the West Bank hotels during 2012 was 1.3 million, of which 13% were by Palestinians, 40% were guest from European Union countries and 8% were guest from the United States and Canada.
The number of guest nights increased by 7% during 2012 compared with 2011.
Hotel Room Occupancy 2012
Room occupancy in the West Bank was 29% in 2012: 41% in the Middle of the West Bank, 35% in Jerusalem hotels, 20% in the North of the West Bank and 18% in the South of the West Bank.

Hotel Capacity During December 2012
There were 98 hotels in the West Bank in December 2012 with a total of 5,203 rooms and 11,883 beds, distributed as follows:
· North of West Bank: 11 hotels comprising 240 rooms with 666 beds.
· Middle of West Bank: 30 hotels comprising 1,344 rooms with 3,189 beds.
· Jerusalem: 30 hotels comprising 1,508 rooms with 3,293 beds.
· South of West Bank: 27 hotels comprising 2,122 rooms with 4,736 beds.
During 2012, there were 2,449 hotel workers, of whom 24% were female.
