Press Release on Hotel Activities Survey in the West Bank during the First Quarter 2013
About 120 Thousand Guests Spent 280 Thousand Nights
During the first quarter of 2013, 120 thousand guests stayed in hotels in the West Bank: 43% were from European Union countries and 10% were Palestinian.
The number of hotel guests was 21% lower than in the previous quarter and 3% lower than in the first quarter of 2012.
During the first quarter of 2013, the number of guest nights in West Bank hotels was 280 thousand: of these 11% were Palestinian, 48% were from European Union countries and 8% were from the United States and Canada.

During the first quarter of 2013, there were 2,635 hotel workers, of whom 2,010 were male and 625 were female.
Hotel Room Occupancy
The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 22% in the first quarter of 2013.
Room occupancy during the first quarter of 2013 was 22% lower than in the previous quarter and 14% lower than in the first quarter of 2012.
Hotel Capacity by Region
In March 2013, there were 101 hotels operating in the West Bank offering 5,592 rooms with a total of 12,786 beds available. These were distributed by region as follows:
· North of West Bank: 12 hotels comprising 253 rooms with 741 beds.
· Middle of West Bank: 30 hotels comprising 1,420 rooms with 3,383 beds
· Jerusalem: 29 hotels comprising 1,582 rooms with 3,507 beds.
· South of West Bank: 30 hotels comprising 2,337 rooms with 5,155 beds.
