The Annual Report on Transportation and Communication Statistics in Palestine, 2012

Main Results:  

An Increase in Numbers of Workers in the Transport, Storage and Communication Activity

The report results showed that the percentage of total number of workers in the transport, storage and communication activity in 2012 reached to 6.5% of total workers in Palestine,  comparing with 6.0% in 2011.

Number of licensed vehicles in Palestine

The results showed that the total number of licensed vehicles in Palestine was 217 thousands (144 thousands in the West Bank and 73 thousands  in Gaza Strip).

The data showed that the private cars formed 67.0% of the total vehicles in Palestine.

An Increase of the Road Accidents and Casualties in the West Bank*

The results of the annual report showed that the number of registered road accidents in the      West Bank* reached 8,037 in 2012, with an increase by 8.5% compared with 2011. The number of casualties in 2012 was 8,195 with an increase by 2.8% compared with 2011. Those slightly injured formed 86.7% out of the total injured persons, while the fatally injured formed 1.5% from the total injured in 2012.

An Increase in Number of Main Telephone Lines in Palestine

The results showed that the total main telephone lines operating in Palestine was 394 thousands lines by the end of 2012, with an increase by 2.9% compared to 2011.

Number of subscriptions Cellular phone in Palestine

The results indicated that the number of subscriptions in Palestinian Cellular Phones by the end of the year 2012 in Palestine was 3.2 million subscriptions with a growth rate of 10.6% compared with 2011.
