Palestinian Consumer Price Index, July, 07/2014

A sharp rise in the CPI due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip during July 2014 compared with previous month

 

The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Palestine during July 2014 increased by 1.53% compared with June 2014 (increased by 3.14% in Gaza Strip, 0.81% in the West Bank, and  0.70% in Jerusalem J1*).

 

The CPI during July 2014 increased by 2.24% compared with July 2013 (5.04% in Gaza Strip, 3.91% in Jerusalem J1*, and 1.07% in the West Bank).

 

The CPI during first seven months of 2014 increased by 1.79% compared with the same period of the previous year (4.62% in Jerusalem J1*, 2.10% in the West Bank, and 1.96% in Gaza Strip).

 

The change in Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Palestine for July 2014 is traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with the previous month:

Note:

·        Jerusalem J1*:  those parts of Jerusalem which were annexed by Israel in 1967

·        The data of West Bank doesn't cover Jerusalem J1.

·        Gaza Strip: PCBS collected a consumer prices for some commodities with  high relative importance in consumer price index within major groups of expenditure, through being directly collected from the field, due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip during July 2014.
