Increase in the Prices of Fresh Vegetables and Eggs is the Main Reason for the Increase in the Consumer Price Index CPI during January, 01/2022


The overall CPI for Palestine during January 2022 recorded an increase by 0.68% compared with December 2021 (1.00% in Jerusalem J1*, 0.73% in the West Bank**, and 0.33% in Gaza Strip).   

The changes in Palestinian CPI for January 2022 were traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:

The Palestinian CPI during January 2022 increased by 2.68% compared with January 2021 (3.78% in Jerusalem J1*, 2.68% in the West Bank**, and 2.01% in Gaza Strip).

•    Due to COVID-19 pandemic and inability to conduct face-to-face interview, data for Consumer Price Index has been collected using mobile phones, in all of the Palestinian Governorates’ interviews.

*Data represent those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.
**Data exclude those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed by Israeli Occupation in 1967.
